Closing Bell: Sensex slipped 166 pts; broader market lost more than half a percent

free stock tipsThe main index Sensex and Nifty declined more than half percent on Monday due to correction in global peers, and on caution ahead of macroeconomic data. Nifty was ended above 9600 marks, touched a high of 9647.05 and touched a low of 9,598.50 level. Sensex was opened at 31,225.43 aginst previous closed 31,262 and touched a high of 31,430 level in intraday trade. The end of the day, Sensex closed at 31,095.70, down by 166.36 points or 0.53 percent. while Nifty was down 51 points or 0.54 percent at 9616.
The broader market also lost more than half a percent, BSE Midcap index was down 0.53 percent at 14796.09. BSE Smallcap index was down 0.61 percent at 15454.06. whereas Nifty Midcap 100 was down 0.64 percent at 17878.90.
Infosys, Sun Pharma, HUL, Cipla, and BHEL were the top gainers, while Tata Motors, Larsen, Wipro, ICICI Bank, and Bajaj Auto were the major losers in the Sensex.
